Meet Kim Barnicoat
Kim was born in the Lake District in England, and left to join the Royal Navy in her late teens as a dental nurse. She qualified as a dental hygienist in 1981. Kim provided dental care to service personnel and families in Naples Italy, where she worked for two years with NATO.
The following 10 years Kim spent in North America where she worked in specialist practice, in periodontics and orthodontics.
After working in a periodontal practice treating advanced gum disease Kim became passionate about the prevention of dental disease, both gums disease and tooth decay.
On returning from Canada to the UK in 1995, Kim met Paul, a Canadian, and the rest as they say is history!!!.
They married in 1998, set up a purpose built practice, and had a baby in 1999…. a busy couple of years!
The following 15 years the family practice grew. Kim took time out in 2006 to study to become an Oral Health Therapist, ultimately balancing her time between lecturing at the Peninsula Dental School and clinical care in their practice.
Paul, Kim and their family emigrated to Australia in 2013.
Kim has worked locally here in Noosa but missed doing things her way, and working with her husband. And so, BKP Dental was born…
Kim enjoys walking her dog, on Sunrise Beach, and the spit, especially at sunset, where she believes she feeds the sandflies!
