Root Canal Treatment
When the nerve in a tooth dies, it can cause an abscess, and quite severe toothache. Often the only treatment options available for this is either an extraction- loss of the tooth, or root canal therapy (Endodontics).
This involves removing the infected, dead tissue from inside the tooth, sterilizing the root canals, and then filling them up with a rubber filling material (gutta percha).
The tooth will then need to be restored, generally with a crown being the best option as it provides the best clinical seal to protect the tooth.
